We have already invested in 50 companies, and we plan to increase that to up to 100 companies by 2020. BUT BEFORE YOU APPLY, BE AWARE:
The Vietnam team is small.... It will never be more than 15 people at a given time and will typically be around 8-10 people. Each functional area will have 1-3 people. The top management travels frequently -- one is based in SF, the other is based in HCM but travels ~30-40% of the year. That means you may feel lonely from time to time. You are expected to be independent and disciplined.
...But we do a lot. We scan through thousands of companies in the market to invest in 20-30 companies per year -- a very fast rate. We are supporting dozens of portfolio companies. We field frequent inquiries from other investors, reporters, government & NGO officials, and other stakeholders. That means your responsibilities may vary substantially from week to week.
So there is a lot to learn. You may have substantial prior experience, but between learning about the venture capital industry, becoming adept with our processes and systems, and familiarizing yourself with our portfolio companies, it’s quite likely you’ll feel “underwater” for the first several months.

THE ROLE: COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (BASED IN HCMC)
In this role, you will support 500’s communications strategy across press, social media, other digital media, and events. Your role will have three main parts:
- General communications strategy and execution. You will help develop communications strategies and plans. You will also put in place systems to make sure all communications tasks are completed in an effective and timely manner and all information is documented and up-to-date.
- Content planning and execution. You will develop and execute our editorial calendar across our website, Facebook page, and newsletter. You will also help draft content for press from time to time.
- Portfolio company communications support. From time to time you will support our portfolio companies. This may include drafting or reviewing press releases, auditing their media presence, brainstorming content ideas, etc.
Requirements:
- 2-6 years of experience in marketing, advertising, or other communications
- Good communicator with strong bilingual English & Vietnamese
- Nice-to-have: skill in graphic design, PowerPoint editing, photography, videography, and/or post-production
- Attention to detail
- Critical thinking
