Coffee Trader & Sourcing Manager

Functional Reports to: Regional Manager Asia (located Vietnam)
Administrative Reports to: General Manager Vietnam

The Trader will be responsible for a sourcing & trading operation dealing with 80.000 Mt of unroasted green coffee (commodity) with a revenue of around 120m usd. Mostly coffee is exported through Amsterdam sales team, but local market is growing fast and we want to grow in this market. Although based in HCMC frequent traveling to coffee areas and factory in Buon Ma Thout is required. You will be working in an Office of 20 HC and Factory HC at 30 plus temporary workers. You will have 4 direct reports.

** Job description
- Manage our Vietnamese sourcing and trading

This includes amongst others:
- Contribute and execute trading strategy; trading plans, manpower planning, succession planning, logistical planning, budget
- Have good understanding of local market with regards to farmers, collectors and competition with regards to their prices, stock & contracts
- Coordinate daily prices between head office Amsterdam and our upcountry buyers
- Manage and oversee all trading activities in Vietnam to ensure its productivity and effectiveness
- Understand the business flow and the process to ensure that all transactions are recorded on a timely basis and that contracts status is updated.
- Review, challenge and formalize standard and clear logistics processes of commercial and inter-company trades, fixations, contract modifications, document review and presentation.
- Ensure good risk management on suppliers, contracts, forex and market exposures.
- Systematically review positions, ensure that all contracts are being followed, review open shipment schedule
- Daily reporting on positions
- Ensure proper valuations
- Contribute to proper production planning to ensure most value is generated
- Analyze internal costings with regards to handling, storage, transportation
- Deliver on local Sales & Marketing targets (client coverage, profitability, volume, services etc)
- Give commercial support on our local CSR and related projects and initiatives

- Preferably Vietnamese nationality, if not close to fluent in Vietnamese
- Coffee or Commodity background

** Education & Experience
- University (degree)
- Min 5 years in Trading in Coffee or Commodities
- Min 5 years’ experience of P&L, Risk management and trading in the coffee or commodity industry
- Understanding of and experience in a processing operation
- Experience and understanding of law with regards to factory labor and foremen
