Main purpose of job:

To support the UK Government and Universities Wales to develop and expand international study from Vietnam to Wales as part of the Global Wales and Chevening scholarship programmes. This includes assisting in marketing and communication activity to raise awareness of the Chevening Universities Wales scholarships and Study in Wales brand more broadly, and recruitment activities at higher education and Chevening events in Vietnam.

Chevening is the UK Government’s international scholarship scheme aimed at developing global leaders and influencers. As part of a new initiative we are adding up to 10 additional scholarships to our existing Chevening Programme for students to study a Master’s course at universities in Wales. This will run alongside our current Chevening scholarship scheme. Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders and influencers from all over the world to develop professionally and academically, network, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.

Beyond Chevening, there are opportunities in Wales for Vietnamese students to study at undergraduate and postgraduate level. As part of the world-renowned UK higher education system, Welsh universities offer high quality qualifications in all subject areas and many of our universities offer scholarships outside of Chevening which Vietnamese students may be eligible for.

If you’re interested in British education and development and want to learn more about British diplomacy and the work of the British Embassy this is an excellent opportunity to get involved. As well as contributing to the Global Wales project and Chevening scholarship scheme you will have chance to work with different teams at the British Embassy and network across the higher education sector. You will have the opportunity to develop a range of skills and experience.

Roles and responsibilities:

“Study in Wales” Chevening intern: duties include but not limited to:

Implement the promotional activities of Chevening Universities Wales scholarships and the Study in Wales brand at higher education and Chevening events;

Support awareness raising via social and traditional media, Chevening and other educational events Study in Wales events. The GREAT Festival and other opportunities that may arise; Inputting into Study in Wales marketing and recruitment strategy through market research, in country intelligence etc.;

Assisting in the creation of promotional materials (banners, backdrops. etc) as needed; design and implement videos for use on social media;

Translating: Translating communication materials in to Vietnamese / English for use on social media

The intern positions being advertised are full-time and will be based in Hanoi.
There are two (2) intern vacancies available. The contract duration of each intern will be 3 months: 1 intern for the period of June - August 2019 and 1 intern from September - November 2019.

Essential requirements/skills/experience:

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Experience in supporting marketing and event
Experience in designing and creating communications and promotional materials
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to work to tight deadlines and multi-task effectively
Good team-working skills and the ability to develop productive relationships both with other teams around the Embassy and network and with the Universities Wales office in Cardiff

Desirable skills/qualifications/experience:

Relevant qualification and/or relevant experience
Familiarity with UK culture
Experience in producing audio-visual content for social media
