I. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
• Channel Support Manager is responsible to plan, co-ordinate, facilitate and evaluate all trade activities including but not limited to channel investment, trade program or tactical rebate to support in year company performance.
• Channel Support Manager would work closely with all key stake holders from Sales front-line, Sales management, Finance and Marketing to ensure the use of trade resource is efficient, compliance and timely managed.
II. KEY RESULTS/ ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Generic requirement
- To ensure full compliance to the set of BP Values and Behaviors
2. Budget Planning and Allocation:
- Be responsible to build, communicate and monitoring a budget for all trade activities, including not limited to rebate, signage and capex in consultation with Sales/Marketing and Finance.
- Be responsible to keep regular update, review and make recommendation on intervention on the efficient uses of allocated budget by sales region or market space or types of expenses.
- Be responsible to provide reconciliation on budget used versus Plan/RF/LV with clear financial implication and justification.
3. Activities Planning
- Be responsible to connect with Sales/ Distributors/Customers to understand market need to prepare trade program to best meet market demand.
- Be responsible to recommend, plan, implement and evaluate all channel Support Programs for all channels with consultation from both Sales & Marketing within the given resources in responding to changing business environment and objective.
- Be responsible to follow up the implementation of activities as committed in Sales and Marketing and monthly Customer Investment meeting (previously Trade Loan meeting) and provide adequate and timely update to management team.
- Be responsible to issue monthly performance report such as Power brand performance, IWS expansion, Trade Loan/ Cash rebate, BPK performance, Capex, and other reports as required by management team.
- Be responsible to prepare monthly accrual for Finance to ensure all expenses are managed and recorded correctly and all financial implication are understood and communicated well in advance among key stake holders.
4. Trade Service
- Be responsible to improve overall merchandising standards for Castrol / BP brands and drive better execution at trade (including LCC proceeding for purchasing gifts and delivering them to retailers)
- Be responsible to delivery company commitment to distributors and customers in terms of trade incentive settlement: promotion, trade investment, signage implementation, etc and regular measure actual service delivered versus stated commitment and be able to recommend action to improve service level.
- Be able to provide adequate support to sales team in processing, recording and monitoring contracts, documentation for investment contracts, including but not limited to Trade Loan, Cash Rebate, Signage and Capex to minimize lost documentation and negative customer experiences.
- Be responsible to the compliance of company DOA, regulation, G&E, I&E and be able to provide consultation/ or provide the right access to consultation on each specific program
5. Team management
- Set clear objectives for each staff and provide full coaching, training to develop staff skills. All Direct reports have up to date KPI’s driving performance and to ensure that “My Plan” is conducted for all staff on a regular basis.
- Ensure a performance based culture is built up through professional and fair management practices
- Ensure all staff are motivated and satisfied with the company and management
- Share key learning and improvement to better fulfil our customers and trade requirements

III. KEY CHALLENGES FACED ON THE ROLE
• Liaise with Sales, Marketing and Finance to align different agenda to support the common goal of company top-line delivery in a very fast changing business environment.
• Be able to make skilful application customer policies in meeting dynamic market challenges which require constant update in market understanding, strong business acumen, high alertness and strong people skills
• Manage a large and diverse team to ensure the correct skills level for the various positions in the team, and constantly keep staff motivated when doing a routine job

• Provide long & medium term directions for the team to focus on
• Drive the team to achieve the highest standards in service – resulting in a professional Channel Support team
• Work across the sales , marketing , supply chain , FC&A team to deliver performance contract

1. Educational/background
University Degree or professional qualification in business management
2. Experience (years and nature)
Minimum 5 years working experience in either sales or marketing for Lubricant or FCMG industry
Experience in Trade Marketing Support is an added advantage
3. Others
• Drive operational excellence, quality of merchandising and brand visibility at trade
• Independent & Creative
• Strong computer skills – Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
• Strong analytical and presentation skills
• Recognize and act upon opportunities
