Business Compliance Officer

We are looking for a Business Compliance Officer, reporting to the Area Financial Controller. The role is based in our Ho Chi Minh City office in Vietnam. As a Business Compliance Officer, you will be the anchor point for all compliance related matters in Vietnam and work very closely with the Area Legal and Compliance Officer.

As a Business Compliance Officer (BCO):
• You are the first contact point for compliance matters including Anti-Corruption, and partly Anti-Competition and Foreign Trade Controls in Vietnam. Responsibilities:
Overall, key objective of a BCO is to oversee and manage the compliance activities to ensure the adherence of internal policies as well as in line with the local regulations by cooperating with internal and external stakeholders with the aim to maintain our license to operate and protect our reputation. The role also allows you to give ad-hoc support on certain legal matters in consultation with Area Legal and Compliance when it comes to language barriers and local presence.

Key responsibilities (not limited to) include:

Main contact for all compliance matters:
• Awareness, prevention, detective & corrective measures to improve the competition compliance, anti-corruption and foreign trade controls in VCM (incl. GSC VCM organization) by working closely with Area Legal and Compliance Officer, with special focus for Vietnam.
• Ensure various initiatives are implemented to enable a compliant business environment, such as supplier compliance programs, vendor days, global compliance day, etc.
• Drive improvement and adherence to all local laws and company policies on legal matters and compliance matters for Vietnam.

Support on ad-hoc legal matters in Vietnam (always in consultation with Area Legal and Compliance):
• Maintain the company Board of Directors as per company policy and local laws (with close coordination from Chief Accountants).
• Keep GEMS up to date by liaising with relevant departments and Chief Accountants, with special focus on Vietnam.
• Coordinate with local VN legal advisors and assist on payment disputes / non-material court cases / longstanding containers based on local law (through external lawyers / Chief Accountants) and internal company rules (e.g. business advice, draft a response letter, etc.) – with special focus on Vietnam.
• Support on Vietnam company secretary matters.
• Other ad-hoc related tasks / projects as assigned by Area Financial Controller and Area Legal and Compliance Officer.

Key stakeholder of BCO will be the Area Financial Controller, Area Legal and Compliance Officer, Regional Compliance and Legal team, ALT (Area leadership team) and Sales, Finance and Delivery functions.

Education & Experiences:
• Language: Business level English and Vietnamese communication are required.
• Education: Bachelor or master’s degree in Business related field or equivalent.
• Background in law or Certified Compliance Ethics Professional – International (CCEP-I) will be added advantage.
• Experience: At least 2 years’ experience working in corporate compliance related fields.
• Exposure in transport and logistics sector as well as legal matters would be a plus.
