Biomedical Engineer

A. General purpose of the position:
Perform inspection, testing, training, repair, preventive maintenance, calibration on medical equipment along with ensuring documentation as per hospital processes with the help of the CMMS;

B. Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Inventory and Risk Assessment of medical Equipment
2. Inspection and safety check of Medical Equipment.
3. Installation, Commissioning and Training:
i. Co-ordinate with vendors before, during and after the process
ii. Ensure proper documentation of the entire process
iii. Liaison with vendors, users and purchase for installation scheduling
iv. Follow up with users to ensure completion of installation, commissioning and training of the medical equipment
4. Follow the schedule of Preventive Maintenance (PM) in notify the user in advance and ensuring the job is done with in house / external engineers – complete with documentation and labels on equipment
5. Ensure corrective calls are addressed and completed as per hospital processes, ensuring minimum downtime and no disruption to patient services
6. Update all records on CMMS as per the approved processes
7. Receive trainings as provided by the vendor engineer and self-update
8. In liaison with the users, arrange for operational trainings in coordination with the vendors
9. Understand the policies and procedures of the hospital and follow them in all works of the department
10. Quality Record:
i. Prepare and submit quality report to Biomedical Manager on all activities of the medical equipment management

ii. Discuss with Biomedical Manager on report for performance analyzer and improvement

11. Other task assigned by the line manager

1. Qualification : Biomedical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering – degree or diploma
2. Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in the maintenance of medical equipment. Experience of working in the healthcare set up is desirable.
3. Skills and knowledge:
a. Acceptable English at four skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading)
b. Interpersonal and communication skill
c. Computer skills on MS Office applications
d. Basic knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology of Human Systems
e. Understanding of internal functioning and applications of the following basic biomedical equipment
ECG; X-Ray; Ultrasound; Bio Chemistry Analyzer; Hematology Analyzer; Patient Monitor; Defibrillator; Infusion and Syringe Pumps;
4. Foreign language : English
