Aquatics Teaching Assistant

Position overview :

Aquatics Teaching Assistant assists Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Head Instructor in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of students within a safe and healthy learning environment


Responsibilities:


-Support: Provide support to Aquatics Head Instructor and PE teachers as requested (work load to be split between ES and MSHS, at the discretion of the Aquatics Manager)

+Use appropriate strategies to support students’ learning of swimming/pool curriculum

+Assist in instructing and assessing students’ performance during the aquatics program

+Assist with curricular and co-curricular swim meets and other special co-curricular events held in the UNIS-Hanoi pool

+Assist with co-curricular swimming program (ASA) and the opportunity to lead the ASA Learn to Swim program

+Take initiatives in carrying out tasks or seeking information

+Ensure punctual attendance and time keeping


-Substitution

+Class cover during teacher’s absence for short periods of time


-Interaction with students

+Maintain good teaching-learning rapport with student

+Model and collaborate to implement good behaviours

+Understand learner's profiles and act accordingly

-Class management:

+Proactively manage student discipline in alignment with classroom agreement

+Manage small groups and one to one exercise with students under teacher supervision

-Resources Management:

+Prepare and check for safety all aquatics resources, equipment, materials and first aid kits based on the teacher’s teaching plan

+Maintain inventory and stock control of all equipment and resources

+Responsible for learning and using Aquatics related technology software and hardware under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator

-Prepare swimming pool and other teaching areas as directed by the Aquatics Head Instructor

-Commitment to develop UNIS community:

+Provide after school coaching in sports as required

+Contribute to the enrichment of student life at UNIS, for example in sports, student clubs and/or UNIS community services

+Actively get involved in UNIS community services programmes

-Contribution to the UNIS professional development

+Seek feedback, reflect and act upon information received to develop professionally

+Attend UNIS planned training activities

+Learn from others and share knowledge with others

-Other responsibilities as required by the Supervisors

Position requirements:

1. Education / qualification

University degree in Sports or Aquatics or equivalent Certification

2. Experience

-4+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an international learning environment where English is the primary communication language
-Cross-cultural exposure and understanding

3.Technical knowledge

-Above-average proficiency in written and spoken English, and English comprehension
-Subject matter knowledge
-Knowledge of child development
-Knowledge of constructivism pedagogy
-Strong computer skills
