3D Pattern Technician (Garment) – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Job Definition (Key Purpose of the Job) :

The 3D Pattern Technician’s key role is to receive and interpret 2D CAD patterns into 3D garment prototypes using VF’s 3D software. This role will support brands and the 3D designers through pattern and 3d prototyping expertise. Full 3D software training will be provided to selected candidates with a strong pattern making background to become advanced users of the 3D software.

Key Result Areas :

As our 3D Pattern Technician, you will use your knowledge of pattern making to check garment specifications, constructions and maintain pattern integrity to support the digital asset creation work for apparel and equipment while supporting VF brands in their implementation of 3D tools.
• Expert at 3D apparel software programs and the application of those tools to VF brand’s processes and workflows.
• Ensure all patterns and grades are fully accurate and advise on technical and fit solutions to garment design issues if needed, through the use of 3D software.
• Build 3D garment styles to aid in digital asset library building for brands to implement DPC (Digital Product Creation).
• May be required to provide training or support to new users.

Job Requirements:
• Pattern checking and verification – Use 2D CAD software to check pattern accuracy and prepare patterns for use in 3D software for digital garment creation.
• Record and communicate any pattern inconsistencies to technical services team at brand or VFA
• Stay up to date on 3D software functionalities and all new version releases to maintain tool expertise
• Brand digital asset creation support – Construction of 3D garments including stitching and simulation functions
• Be curious, creative and have a passion for innovation

Experience:

Minimum Relevant Experience: 3+ (Excluding vocational and educational experience. Will make exception for the right candidate)

Minimum Supervisory Experience: 0

Nature of Work: Pattern Making, Technical Pattern Design, 3D Garment Creation (Training offered)

Functional Experience:

• Pattern Making, Apparel Technical Design skills
• Experience with 2D Apparel Pattern making CAD software
• Microsoft Office

Academic Qualifications
Minimum Degree Held: Diploma or Bachelors Degree
Subject Expert In: 2D Pattern Making

Language Proficiency: Fluent in : English

Specific Working Conditions: Frequency of Travel: Approx. 1 trip every 3 months

Other Specific Working Conditions : Ability to work with and support 3D users at factories. Must have strong interest and passion to learn new tools and technical skills and show proficiency in technology.
