JOB SUMMARY

You will join a dynamic and supportive research group running clinical and laboratory based descriptive and interventional trials. You will be based at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Ho Chi Minh City. The main focus of your work will be on clinical trials for tuberculous meningitis (TBM).

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work under the direction of OUCRU investigators to ensure the successful progress of clinical trials
- Understand and be familiar with the study protocols
- Collect, co-ordinate and oversee the collection of clinical and laboratory data at study site, ensuring that clinical case report forms are completed accurately, promptly, and collaborate with hospital staff wherever necessary.
- Review assessment schedules for patients to ensure that clinical assessments and laboratory tests are performed as per schedule
- Maintain good communication with research nurses, other study physicians and collaborating hospital staff members, to ensure participants’ well-being, compliance with study protocols and quality of clinical data.
- Assist with data entry
- Build rapport with study sites and act as a liaison between OUCRU-VN and the site.
- Cooperate with the study monitoring team during their visits and answer their questions regarding data collection.
- Other tasks as required.

DEPARTMENT

LOCATION
This post is based at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

HOURS OF WORK
Full time (37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday)

TENURE
Initially for one year, including a 2 month probation period, with possibility of extension.

REPORTING TO
Head of Clinical Trials Unit – Evelyne Kestelyn

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

- A candidate with qualification in a relevant medical field
- Excellent skills in communication. Able to form a good rapport with staff from all backgrounds
- Ability to work closely with other study staff and hospital collaborators
- Good attention to detail in following protocols and keeping records, and a thorough approach to data collection
- Interest in clinical and/or epidemiological research
- A good command of English & VIETNAMESE

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

- Prior experience in clinical research, particularly of data collection
- Degree, master degree or diploma in a medical field
- Experience in the management of patients with tuberculosis. Familiarity with computers, including Word and database programs
- Understanding of academic, research or not-for-profit working environment
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision
