Nguyen Thi Kim Yen

My study major is Aquaculture, after graduating Bachelor study in Can Tho University and Master in National Taiwan Ocean University. I recognised this is the time for me to start my career by dedicating myself to the Aquaculture industry in Vietnam. While studying for my MSc in Aquaculture Nutrition, National Taiwan Ocean University, I investigated the effects of the dietary administration of antioxidant compounds such as grape extracts and organic selenium on growth and anti-oxidative enzymes activities in Asian seabass. This study achieved positive comments from my supervisors, Professor Shyn-Sheen, Shen as well as committee members after my thesis defence. I finally got the Master degree in August, 2019.

My passion started when I attended to Aquaculture Nutrition and Feedstuffs class given in National Taiwan Ocean University. Before that, I know little information about aqua-feed and nutrition requirements of fish and shrimp. However, during this class, I found myself having interests in every lesson and frequently asked professors questions to satisfy my curiosities appearing in my head. In addition, I gained experience in conducting research related to aquaculture nutrition since I worked in Aquaculture Nutrition lab. I am confident about my research skills and knowledge learnt during my stay in Taiwan. 

Coming back to Vietnam, I would like to contribute myself in aqua-feed industry. More specifically, my expectation is that I can work in where I feel the most confident, the R&D position. This is because this working environment is similar to when I study in Taiwan, where I feel the most utilised in designing, setting up experiments, collecting, analysing data as well as analysing feed and ingredients. Besides, writing reports as well as English presentation are also my strengths. In fact, I graduated in both Bachelor and Master program where every course and thesis has to be done in English. So I feel comfortable in English speaking and writing. During my study in Taiwan, I had opportunities to learn and basically communicate in Chinese. I hope this will be a plus point for me in the future.
